Southeastern Lakes Scholastic Mountain Bike Assn (SLS MTB)


  • Students in grades 6-12 in Racine & Kenosha Counties and Illinois
  • No Experience Necessary
  • Boys and Girls
  • Traditional School, Private School, Virtual School or Home School


  • Cross country mountain biking
  • Off road single track dirt trails in parks
  • Learn proper skills and riding techniques
  • Practice & races governed by NICA
  • Licensed coaches
  • Helmet required at all times
  • Must have a safe, functioning mountain bike with 26-29" wheels
  • Racing is optional
  • Have FUN & possibly discover new friends
  • Foster a responsible attitude toward the use of trails and wilderness
  • No prior skills necessary


  • Pre-Season starts in May, Official season is July - October
  • Practice 2-3 times per week - choose whatever days/times work for you
  • Weekday evenings & some weekends
  • 3 Adventure Weekends
  • 5 races in September & October


  • Practice is generally held at Silver Lake Park in Kenosha
  • Races/Events held throughout the state of Wisconsin


Try out one practice for FREE with a parent signed waiver 2021 Registration Fees and Process Full Registration Cost: $190.00 + $40.00/race or event To participate and ride with the Team, student athletes must complete the two step registration process; team registration and WI NICA registration. Each step has fees associated with it. Step 1: Register with SLS MTB - $125.00

  • The first step of our registration process is to pay the team fees. These fees cover local team expenses, such as WI Leauge Team fee's, coach education & first aid training, team equipment & team management.
  • Each student athlete and coach will need to complete a USA Cycling Assumption of Risk, Release of Liability form.
  • Important: Each student athlete must willingly participate in COVID self-check procedures and complete a questionnaire prior to each practice. Athletes must comply with team COVID procedures. IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL - DO NOT COME TO PRACTICE OR EVENTS
  • As part of the team registration process, both the rider and a parent/guardian will need to read and acknowledge our Sportsmanship and Conduct Standards and our Riding Policies.
Step 2: Register NICA - $65.00
  • When everyone is registered with the team, we will activate the riders in the NICA Pit Zone, the secure online website that will register you with the National Organization, NICA. This is where you will complete registration, waivers, and participation agreements. If a rider does not yet have a Pit Zone account, we will send an invite to the parent's email address used during the team registration process. Once a rider's account has been created or re-activated, the rider will need to go through the NICA registration system and fill in or verify all information.​

  • Finish the NICA registration by paying the $65.00 registration fee. This fee includes membership to NICA as well as supplemental insurance for the rider. No rider will be allowed to practice with the team until this fee has been paid.
